Shabbat King

On 10/29, Noah was Shabbat King at School. This is extra special, because parents are invited to attend when their Child is Shabbat King or Queen. First just before snack time the Shabbat King lights the pretend candles and says the blessings. You can see how he is covering his eyes while saying the prayers? (For those of you who don't know, that is a tradition. It's complicated; you are supposed to light the candles before shabbat, but once you say the blessings it is already shabbat. So the tradition goes, you light the candles, then cover your eyes while saying the blessings, then when you uncover your eyes and see the candles, they are already lit and it is shabbat! Then he helps pass out the snack (that we brought), says the blessing for the bread, and even gets to collect Tzadaka (the money for charity) that all the kids bring on Fridays. Then there is a tot service in the temple. The 3 of us got to light the candles together, and say the Kiddush. You can see Noah is holding the wine glass.

And then Noah started the chicken soup!
After services, it was play time. All the kids seemed to have lots of fun out in the playground! Noah's friends were showing him something they found. We think it was a bug!

Noah was a great Shabbat King, and it was special we could be there.
