We took a trip on the Verde Canyon Railroad outside of Cottonwood Arizona! This is an old railroad about 2 hours north of Phoenix that takes a 4 hour trip into the desert along the Verde River Canyon. Noah (and Kathy and David) loved the train ride, and the scenery was beautiful. We started out at the station.
There were inside and outside cars. We rode inside most of the time. There was a little snack bar with drinks and cookies and candy, and at the half way point they even had ice cream sandwiches!Look at the wonderful view! Here you can see the front of our train going over one of the bridges.
There was also a big long dark tunnel we went through. You can see Noah is getting ready for "one more tunnel to go":
The outdoor train was really fun, and it was warm out, so we went in and out (and in and out and in and out)And at the end of trip the brakeman had to turn the wheel and stop the train! What a fun adventure.
